WESTAF Update Notes #94 | September 2017
Mai Anthony Radich, Luna Hoʻokele
This is the 94th in a continuing series of updates about the work of WESTAF.
WESTAF Executive Director Anthony Radich Elected to Technology Oversight Group
WESTAF Executive Director Anthony Radich has been elected to serve as a member of the CollectionSpace leadership working group. CollectionSpace is a free, open-source collections management application used by museums, historical societies, biological collections, and other collections-holding organizations. The leadership working group reviews and prioritizes software development, technical infrastructure, and user support roadmaps to help CollectionSpace meet the diverse needs of a wide array of museums and other collecting institutions. WESTAF is engaged with CollectionSpace because Collection Space software is being adapted to serve as the new core software for a significant expansion of WESTAF’s Public Art Archive™ project.
CollectionSpace was developed by a network of North American and European partner organizations led by Museum of the Moving Image in New York, which originated the project, and the University of California, Berkeley. The Statens Museum for Kunst (National Gallery of Art Denmark) in Copenhagen and the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis have been involved in CollectionSpace planning, design, development, and governance since 2008. Also involved in the project are the Centre for Applied Research in Educational Technologies (CARET) at the University of Cambridge and the Fluid Project at OCAD University in Toronto.
